The Jacobson Entrepreneur Camp is a week-long day camp for Iowa students entering 5th or 6th grade in the fall and are interested in entrepreneurship and owning a business. The Jacobson Institute holds two academies each summer, in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.  The camp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (early drop off and late pick up are available for an additional fee).

Camp participants:

  • Hear from successful entrepreneurs
  • Tour local entrepreneurial businesses
  • Develop an innovative idea for a product
  • Sell your product at the Camp Biz Expo
  • Learn how to give a great elevator Pitch
  • Make new friends
  • Have tons of fun!

What is the Jacobson Entrepreneur Camp? 
A week-long day camp geared for young people who want to start, operate, or improve their business.

How much does the Jacobson Entrepreneur Camp cost? 
Through generous support from sponsors, you pay only $200 for a week—snacks, lunch, materials, and T-shirt are included! Participants may elect to drop their children off early (7:45 a.m.) and pick them up late (until 5:30 p.m.) for an additional fee of $50.

Scholarships are available for families in need of financial assistance through the E.B. Green Scholarship Fund. The deadline to apply for an E.B. Green Scholarship is April 6, 2015. E.B. Green Scholarship Application available here.

Marion area students are also eligible for scholarships through the Marion Chamber and Marion Economic Development Company. Up to 10 $100 scholarships will be awarded to Marion area students. These scholarships will be awarded first-come; first-served. Marion area students are eligible to receive both the E.B. Green Scholarship as well as the Marion area scholarship.

Who can apply? 
Current Iowa students who are entering 5-6 grades in the fall living in the Iowa City or Cedar Rapids area.

Schedule
Campers spend the day in the classroom learning about entrepreneurship, hearing guest speakers, and developing their business plan. By the end of the week, camp participants have developed a business plan, business cards, flyer and presentation that they present to a panel of judges who award CASH PRIZES to the top plans! Up to 32 young entrepreneurs will be honored.

Transportation
Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the parent.
